Hello and welcome to Quirran-Lea Quarter Horse and Paint Horse Stud owned and managed by Ken and Cathy Marsh.
We have been breeding Quarter Horses since 1977 with some of these also dual registered Australian Stock Horses. Paint Horses became a permanent part of the stud again in 1995. The stud is situated at "Bells Bridge" - just 15 kilometres north of Gympie on the Bruce Highway in Queensland, Australia. We generally run over 20 boodmares of our own on irrigated pasture and stand 2 or 3 stallions each season.
We have always concentrated on proven working bloodlines that are bred to excel in reining, cutting, arena performance, cowhorse and campdrafting. But, we also like these athletes to look good too and therefore have had our fair share of success in the "Halter" ring as well.
We also run beef cattle on other properties with our family and we use our horses to do all the mustering work required. It is a great way to start our youngsters tailing the cattle or just going for a ride through the Australian bush. Our horses have sold throughout Australia and overseas to Germany and New Caledonia.
We still believe in the true "Allrounder" and a number of open and youth competitors have taken our horses, or horses bred by our stallions, out in the performance arena and won themselves the odd high point award or two at State and National level. We congratulate and thank all those competitors on a job well done!
